Children's Book Monday: The Jesus Storybook Bible

There is a lovely site that I have enjoyed called A Path Made Straight. It is filled with gentle beauty and any site that loves wonderful children's literature is going to find a warm spot in my heart. :)

Elise has a feature she calls Children's Book Monday where she reviews the treasures she loves in children's literature. Readers are invited to "link-up" and add their favorites. She has dubbed today's edition "Comfort" books. Of course, I wanted to participate because I love children and I love books and I love children's books!

So here is my offering.

This little book has become a favorite with us. The subtitle is: "Every story whispers His Name." In it's beautiful pages, the Love of God is everywhere. And in the telling of the old familiar Bible stories, Love is what weaves each page together, creating a bridge from one story to the next. Sally Lloyd-Jones gently shows how the Plan was in place before the foundations of the earth were laid. She tells about how everything He made was lovely because He Loved it.

Noah's Ark
The illustrations are so whimsical and wonderful. Every page is full-colored and beautiful. And on every page, the Name is whispered, His Love revealed, His Plan displayed.

The story of the Prodigal Son
Our youngest was having a hard day recently. When she went to our little Peace Retreat corner, looking for Him to help her with her heart, this is the book she chose. She had gone there with such a heavy heart, filled with anger. When I checked on her later, she was reading it. And He had met her there. The difference in her spirit was tangible.

And so this is my suggestions for a "comfort" book for children. It has certainly comforted hearts in our home.
