Pages in "Your Family's Heritage of Faith": A Link-Up

My people, hear my teaching;
   listen to the words of my mouth.
I will open my mouth with a parable;
   I will utter hidden things, things from of old—
things we have heard and known,
   things our ancestors have told us.
 
We will not hide them from their descendants;
   we will tell the next generation
the praiseworthy deeds of the LORD,
   his power, and the wonders he has done.
 
He decreed statutes for Jacob
   and established the law in Israel,
which he commanded our ancestors
   to teach their children, 

so the next generation would know them,
   even the children yet to be born,
   and they in turn would tell their children.
 

Then they would put their trust in God

   and would not forget his deeds

   but would keep his commands. 

They would not be like their ancestors—
   a stubborn and rebellious generation,
whose hearts were not loyal to God,
   whose spirits were not faithful to him.

Psalm 78:1-8

I have never hosted a Link-Up before. But yesterday morning I was thinking about the heritage of Faith that the Lord writes into the hearts of families. I have long encouraged people to write it down. We need to be collecting the testimonies of how the Mighty God of the universe has shown Himself mighty for us. 

Specifically for us! 

We are told in Psalm 78 to pass these faith stories on to our children. We need to be writing them down "so the next generation would know them." We need to be "taking notes" so we will never forget. So that our hearts will remain loyal to God. So that our children are firmly established in their Godly Heritage. So that we build into them a foundation of Faith.

I would LOVE to hear how He has shown Himself Faithful to you. To your children. Even to your parents or grandparents. Those are pages that belong in the record of Your family's Heritage in Him. Imagine the treasure that will be created! Imagine how the volume you begin will be added to through the generations of your family.
