Creativity as a Reflection of God

Why is it that the act of creating is so fulfilling? Why do we yearn to invent, design, compose, paint, build, and imagine? Why, when we are forced to focus on the mundane, do we crave creativity?

Is it because in the act of creating, we are experiencing one of the attributes of God?

The Creator of the Universe made us in His own Image to reflect His Glory. As creative beings, we experience His Divine Nature when we glorify Him with our creativity.

As busy a schedule as we maintain, being a large family, the creative process needs to be a priority. I believe Christians should be the most creative, inventive and imaginative group of people on the planet, because the more we know God, the more we should reflect Him through His giftings to us.

A God who would create almost 12,000 species of ants is not only focused on the mundane. Did you know there are almost 9,000 species of birds??? There are over 270,000 species of flowers!! We serve a God who LOVES His Creation and called all that He had made "good."

Now go create something!!!

These pictures were taken on our trip to Washington D.C.

  1. Thanks for those words of encouragement. I am an artist and sometimes it is a great frustration to me that I have such a strong drive to create and design. I wish I had limitless time and resources to create things all the time. I will look forward to the next life when I can create in heavenly perfection and use the gifts God has given me to the fullest. For now, I am always asking him why he has put this drive in me with what seems to be very few resources. Thanks, and God bless you.

  2. Dear Anonymous,
I think you are wise to seek His will in this. I really believe, and have seen it over and over again in my life, that He provides for what He wants us to do. In fact, He often directs our paths through that Provision. I get myself in trouble when I try to provide for myself when I want to do something. I usually make a mess of it. But when I wait on His Provision, he gives me the Grace (the power and desire) to accomplish His Will. I'm sure He is Glorified by your art!
