What Is It?

Elizabeth and Rebekah love to plant things. Unfortunately, we have a very difficult time keeping new plants alive. Part of it is that we just aren't that gifted horticulturally (apparently the dictionary doesn't think that is a word, but you know what I mean), and part of it is that this year has had some of the most extreme weather conditions we have had in a long, long time.

Elizabeth had planted one of these earlier in the year, but it died. She was so disappointed. Kregg decided to replace it for her, but instead of getting the same little plant she had started with from one of the home improvement store's clearance racks, he went to a nursery and bought her a great big one.

Isn't that just like our Father? He has such delight in giving us good gifts. He enjoys the looks on our faces when He surprises us with more than we can ask or imagine. He loves it when our response is gratitude.

Kregg has taken such delight in Elizabeth's joy over his gift. She loves to take him out to the "orchard" and show him a new bloom or the beginnings of the fruit. If she knows he is heading that way, she makes him wait for her. She always tells me, "I want to show Dad."

Precious.

She adores her daddy. And he adores her. And he loves the fact that she is such a Daddy's Girl. They are so sweet to watch. She just grins. So does he.

Our Father longs for us to turn faces of gratitude toward Him and say sweet "thank you's."

It's helpful to me to see Elizabeth and Kregg. It reminds me to delight in Him. I am quick to forget and become easily distracted. "Squirrel!!" (If you didn't see "UP!" just ignore that.)

It's a pomegranate plant, by the way. And those pictures were all taken at the same time. The plant is supposed to bloom all summer. So we have lots of delightful moments to anticipate in the upcoming months.
