We decided to make a spur-of-the-moment trip to see Jeremiah and Hannah this morning. She was "due" last Wednesday, which we all know is just a general target that is rarely accurate. But, no matter how hard you tell yourself not to, it is hard not to feel badly when that day comes and goes and you are still pregnant. So, knowing that she is to the really, really, really uncomfortable stage, we decided a pre-birth pep rally was in order. I will admit we did pack and take two vehicles, just in case today might be the day.
Even though Samuel did not come out to play, we had a lovely visit, took them to lunch and then helped finish up some last little things. But mostly, we just visited. And it was precious.
While there, I took these pictures of the nursery. I think she did a great job. It's a friendly, cheerful, welcoming space and I know they will spend many happy hours there. So will I! :)
You see this baby bed? Kregg built it when we were expecting Hannah. He made it so that it can also adapt for a canopy. When we found out Hannah was expecting, he dug it out of the tack room at the back of our shop where it had been stored for years and years along with all the other ones, dusted it off and refinished it. Thankfully, the little teeth marks from where Hannah gnawed on it as an infant are still there. She had serious beaver tendencies, that is solid oak!
See that little rocking chair? That was a gift from Kregg's parents for Christmas after Hannah's first birthday. She used to sit in it and read books. Won't it be fun to see her children use the same crib and little rocker that she used when she was little?
She got the frame in the scratch and dent section and then painted it this bright, cheerful yellow. I love it!
We returned home this evening. Two hours drive each way isn't bad for a lunch date with our precious kids! I'm keeping my cell phone with me at all times for now as we await the arrival of Samuel and Caleb! :)
