Adventures Abound

Promise I wasn't driving (this time) when I took this
We have been traveling almost non-stop for several weeks now. Our latest journey is a shortened version of our normal "epic road trips." We were planning a west coast jaunt that would definitely have classified as epic, but decided to scale back in hopes that it would enable Caleb and Mackenzy to join us. Alas, it didn't work. Which makes me really sad!! They are home working while we galavant across America. Poor little things. We did, however, dupe convince Kregg's parents to come with us, so at least the tradition of a "caravan" continues. After choosing the Great Smoky Mountain National Park as our mission objective, we learned that it was on Grandpa's "bucket list."

We are still trying to grasp the sheer volume of all the water and green stuff growing along the roads.

Anyway, our scaled back road trip is only ten days long and we only traveled about 1200 miles one way. Piece of cake. But we didn't feel that way last night during the last 100 miles of our trip. We arrived in this little town at just the wrong time because, unbeknownst to poor unsuspecting tourists, EVERY DINNER SHOW IN TOWN (of which, apparently, there are scores) let out at the same time and traffic was stop and go for an hour. At the end of a day that began at 6:15, the last thing we wanted to do was be in a traffic jam only 10 miles from our temporary home. But, we just laughed and gawked at all the amazing buildings along the "main drag." And to think: we expected a quaint, sleepy little town.

Behold our home-on-wheels. Isn't it lovely? There is something so cleansing about having your "world" reduced to what will fit in that travel trailer. Makes me want to clean out the house when I get home. Of course, I will be too tired. And by the time I rest up, the urge will have passed. (I hope :) Having learned from previous adventures, we decided to park the trailer in one spot for the duration and use it as our base of operations for broader explorations.

I have missed reading all the posts my wonderful blogging buddies have written, but internet has been unavailable or inaccessible for much of the last three weeks. Looking forward to catching up. Eventually. :)   Hope you are all having a summer filled with blessings and revelations of His Love and Faithfulness.
