Nocturnal Spider Migration

Kregg and I came home this evening to find three of our four munchkins out in the backyard. Since it was after dark, we were wondering what on earth they could be doing. Initially, I guessed they were hoping to spend the night on the trampoline again. But no, that wasn't it. In fact, you would never guess what they were doing if I didn't tell you. I certainly never would have guessed.

Elizabeth was standing up on the top deck of the fort with a flashlight. She was shining it down on the grass watching for spider eyes!!!! EEEEKKK! (I have a serious case of ARACHNOPHOBIA!!)

When they would spot one, they would jump down and catch it.

As if that's not bad enough, Elizabeth then informed me that the yard was covered in spiders all walking across the grass. She thinks they are migrating!! Why MY yard??  Is this an annual spring event? How have I missed it all these years? Or is it that they have all finally figured out where I live and have converged on our peaceful little corner of heaven on earth?

She also told me the babies have enormous eyes. Why did she have to tell me that? Now guess what I will be dreaming about tonight.

They are planning to put them together hoping they will fight.

Where do they come up with these ideas????
