Cup 'O Toad

I really shouldn't be surprised after all of these years of mothering, but I caught my breath when I peered over the lip of the cup she expectantly held up to me.

The wonder in the heart and eyes of a child never ceases to amaze. I marvel at it.

He made us all to stare in awe at everything He has made. He created us with hearts that recognize Him as the Artist behind the colors of a sunset, or the music of water skipping over stones in a laughing brook, or even as we gaze into the face of a toad.

Really? A toad?

Yes, even the lowly toad reflects the Creator's magnificence.

Want confirmation of that?

Look into the joyful eyes of a child as they, panting from excitement and the thrill of "the hunt" present you with a "cup 'o toad." He is glorified in that look on their face. And that look on their face reveals the heart He wants to see in each of us as we experience Him through this physical revelation of His Love, this wonder of a world. He gifted us with it to whisper always of how He loves us.

We should practice that look. You know the one. We see it in their faces as they present us with another "treasure."

We should go through life expecting to be amazed.

We should cultivate hearts of wonder.
