The Treasure in the Field

I'm sure we have all heard the parable of the Treasure in the Field.

Matthew 13:44
“The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field."

I don't know about you, but I had always thought this was pretty straightforward. When we "find" Christ, we give up everything to "possess" Him.

My brother was telling me about a sermon he heard not long ago that put a different spin on it.

What if the "man" is Christ? 

What is the treasure?

It is us!! 


Mind-boggling! Doesn't that just fly in the face of everything the evil one whispers to us about being unworthy, broken, dirty?

Romans 5:8
But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
